The Fifth Midlands Taiko Day

Workshop Schedule ~ Saturday 21st March 2020

Haberdashers’ Adams, High Street, Newport, Shropshire TF10 7BD

Workshop A: 11.00am – 12.30pm: YOKO-UCHI – Horizontal style, on high standing drums, led by Mark Alcock of Taiko Meantime. £15.

Workshop B: 11.00am 12.30pm: KATSUGI – Over the shoulder style led by Jack Painting of Taiko Meantime. £15.

NB: Both Workshops will be repated from 4.00pm – 5.30pm, following the afternoon gathering and showcase.

Workshops are for those (16 yrs+) with some Taiko or drumming experience. All workshop places must be booked in advance.

Midlands Mega Taiko Gathering

Join us for the biggest Taiko Drum-off the region has ever seen!  Meet in the sports Hall from 1.00pm for a 1.30pm start.

Taiko West Groups Showcase – 2.00 – 3.30pm

Free entry for the whole afternoon. Bring friends and family!

Evening Show

Featuring – Taiko West Performance Group followed by Top Players from Taiko Meantime.

Doors Open 7.00pm. Tickets £10 Adults (£8 Conc) £5 Children.

This event is a joint project between the music department at Haberdashers’ Adams Grammar School & Taiko West.



(Please note that Taiko Drumming is a fairly rigorous activity and requires a degree of physical fitness. You know your own body’s limits and you will be asked to take responsibility for your own wellbeing during the workshops).
